In a country of around 4.5 million people, 1 million people have no safe water and 3 million have no sanitation. In rural areas, around 30 percent of people do not have access to clean drinking water and only 7 per cent have sanitation facilities. Half of Liberians have no access to a toilet and use streams or open areas. About 800 children die yearly from the outbreaks of water-borne diseases like cholera caused by unsafe water and sanitation.
We believe that one of the greatest differences we can make in Liberia is in providing sustainable access to clean water to rural communities in need. As you read the real-life stories of how children and women struggled in getting water, you will understand why we are motivated in undertaking our Water Projects, and you will also discover how you can help to save and improve lives through the gift of clean water
